The ABIHM focuses on education and support of physicians on their journey toward personal and professional balance. We provide science-based academic content, and heart-felt understanding of integrative holistic medicine while also promoting the personal development of our diplomates.
The Certification Process for Diplomate Status for the ABIHM
The certification and maintenance of certification process is a multi-layered experience involving education, and personal growth and transformation. This is divided into three phases:
Phase one: Candidate status
- You will be offered a mentor from our Diplomate pool. This relationship is available to support your growth and development as an integrative holistic physician and to prepare you for the examination and review course.
- You will be asked to write a journey paper describing your journey and growth of interest in IHM.
- A syllabus will be provided to you and audio CDs of lectures are available to you to support your learning in IHM.
Phase two: Review Course and Examination
- You may attend the annual review course (optional), a comprehensive overview of IHM
- You will take the written ABIHM examination
Phase Three: Maintenance and Growth
- You will attend a variety (at your choice) of CME based course work in IHM. This will increase your knowledge in the integrative arena.
- You will attend a variety (at your choice) of self growth processes which will enhance your capacity to approach patients in a holistic fashion.
- You will complete home study modules with the ABIHM
